All About Samantha Hamilton
Hi! Thank you for stopping by! My name is Samantha but feel free to call me Sam. I grew up in Lorton, Virginia in a family of 5 consisting of my two parents and two younger brothers. I graduated cum laude from Virginia Tech with a B.A. in Theatre Performance and Multimedia Communications Journalism. Go HOKIES! I love everything about the beach, but I won't turn down a hike in the mountains. I am an avid sports watcher, most of the time I'll have ESPN playing on the TV in the background. I have an eclectic music taste. I listen to everything from the latest Hans Zimmer movie scores, intense rap/ hip-hop artists like Meg the Stallion and NBA Youngboy, to 80's classics like 38 Special & Foreigner. I guess it just depends on what mood I'm in that day. Now that you know a little bit about me personally... let's get into what you probably are here for.

Growing up I always felt a strong connection with performing. It excited me in ways that nothing else really could. Whether it was performing fashion shows for my parents in their clothes or playing pretend shows on the playgrounds at recess with my friends. I even rallied up the kids in my neighborhood to star alongside me in a film that I wrote, directed, produced, and successfully burned to a DVD once I finished postproduction. To top it all off we got all the neighborhood families together and threw a premiere party for its first showing. It was a hit at the box office if I do say so myself.

I have been lucky enough to grow up with multiple opportunities to perform and believe me when I say I exercised every opportunity that was available. I have participated in many shows, starting as early as being a butterfly in kindergarten to singing in Louis & Clarke in 6th grade. I was in the ensemble throughout middle school and auditioned my way into every show my high school put on, including my favorite "Les Misérables". While I participated in sports for most of my life, I always made sure to keep performing at the highest priority. When it came time to choose between the two and whether I wanted to pursue volleyball or theatre in high school...I chose theatre. I haven't regretted my decision since, even though it was a hard choice to make in the moment.

I knew I had solidified the right path the night I saw Interstellar for the first time in theatres. Watching that film changed everything for me. Not only did it change the way I had previously looked at time, love, and space. But it changed the perspective I had on the art of acting for the screen. Growing up, performing to me was putting on a show for others, but at that moment, I learned that it cuts deeper...it’s about telling stories and bringing moments to life. The performances I saw in that movie moved me so emotionally that I left emotionally distraught (in a good way). I felt part of their world, even though I wasn't in it. I was so overwhelmed with emotion after that film that it helped me realize what my "why" is. I want to make people feel something. I want to move people emotionally and tell the stories that change lives, the way mine was. As an actor, I aspire to give a performance that can move people and inspire them. One completely real and distinguished. One that makes people feel a part of the story. That moment solidified for me what I had already known…this is something I want to pursue wholeheartedly.

I followed both my dreams and my parents by going to college at Virginia Tech and graduating with honors with a degree in performing arts. I studied under some of what I consider the best instructors at the New York Film Academy in their Acting for Film Intensive. I am consistently pushing myself every day to challenge my acting abilities and learn something new. I am ready for the work that lies ahead, and best believe I’m excited to get started.

Thank you for taking the time to read about me, and I hope I was able to give you a glimpse of who I am.
